Join future JP pupils Bella Franceschi and Hewitt Sundgren for lunch and ice cream! New friends will delight in fun activities, music, lunch, and a visit from the ice-cream truck. In addition, the kindergarten teachers may make a special appearance! This event is open to youngsters entering kindergarten in the fall of 2015.

  1. “Frozen” Fun ~ The Movie and a Sing-Along!

Join Andrew and his parents for “Frozen” follies! Have fun with Disney’s movie, “Frozen,” an epic adventure to end the eternal winter and find the Snow Queen. When the movie is over, the afternoon will come to life as participants relive the adventure by singing the popular songs, playing games, and making crafts. Ice cream and snacks will be provided. This event is open to pupils in pre-K, K, and gr. 1.

  1. Big Hero 6 Movie

Join Luke Finn as he delights in watching the story of Robotics prodigy Hiro who lives in the city of San Fransokyo. Besides his older brother Tadashi, Hiro’s closest companion is Baymax, a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro in the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends Go Go Tamago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon, and Fred into a band of high-tech heroes. This movie is rated PG. Pick up and drop off will be at MarketFair. official times will be decided upon the movie’s release. This event is open to three pupils in Ms. Freedman’s kindergarten class.

  1. Kindergarten Cooking Party

Cook up some fun with Rachel and Gabriel at Tina Cucina. Kindergartners will learn how to make delicious dishes and a scrumptious surprise dessert. This event is open to pupils in kindergarten.

  1. A Family-Friendly Kickball Tournament

Place                                     JP Gymnasium

Join JP physical-education teacher Steve Hennessy, “Nurse Liz,” and English-as-a-second-language (E.S.L.) teacher Lois Bach for an evening of family fun. Families will team up and compete with others to become the JP Kickball Champs! This event is open to all JP families.

  1. Dancing Divas

Dance! Dance! Dance! with Morgan on a Sunday afternoon. The girls will learn cool dance moves, have a dance-themed snack and do a craft! This event is open to girls in gr. 1.

  1. A Pokemon Showdown (1st) 

Price                                       $35 per boy

Participants                           5 boys, 1st grade

Date and Time                       Tue., Nov 18th (an early-dismissal day), 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Place                                      The Jacknow Home, 61 Farrand Rd.

Bring your own Pokemon Cards and prepare to battle! The boys will divide into teams of two, and let the wars begin! Each team will compete, then rotate. After their attacks, they will surely be starved. Ice cream sundaes will be served before pick-up, so your little men won’t go home hungry. It’s a win-win; an activity for a half-day and they get 2 hours of Pokemon play! This event is open to boys in grs. 1 and 3.

  1. First Graders Splash into Summer!

Join Morgan, Olivia, and Lilah for a splashing good time! Celebrate the beginning of summer with a swim and some afternoon fun. The 1st-grade teachers will make a special appearance. Don’t forget your towel! This event is open to pupils in gr. 1.

Deck the halls with pretty little ornaments as JP teachers Katie Bender and Geri Bustillo usher in the holidays by creating fun ornaments with past and present classmates. To get your child more in the spirit, seasonal snacks will be served. This event is open to current or former students of Ms. Bender and Ms. Bustillo in grs. 2- 5.

  1. Crazy for Ms. Albany’s Cookies

Come bake special cookies with Mrs. Albany, using her secret recipe. Pupils will measure ingredients and mix, mold, and bake yummy cookies. If pupils don’t eat them all, they can take home some goodies and the recipe to share with their familiy and friends. This yummy event is open to pupils in grs. 2 & 3.

  1. Tie-Dye and Pool Party

Join Eibhleann for an afternoon of swimming in a heated pool and groovy fun while you tie-dye! t-shirts and drawstring backpacks will be supplied but you can bring anything else you wish to tie dye too (shorts, socks, etc).  Drinks, a snacks and pizza will be provided.  This event is open to kids in gr. 2.

Join Joey and Lia for a matinee and then milkshake at MarketFair. The girls will delight in watching the latest girlie movie and then chatting about it over milkshakes. Transportation will be provided from JP. Pick up will be at MarketFair.   This event is open to girls in gr. 2.

Join brothers Max and Nico for an afternoon of bowling and pizza. Whether your child bowls a strike, a spare, or a gutter ball, he or she is sure to have a lot of fun! Drop your child off at Slocum’s Lanes or carpool with a friend. This event is open to pupils in grs. 2-4.

  1. St. Patrick’s Day Party: Catch Yourself a Leprechaun

Join Alex Woodbury and her mom as they add a touch of leprechaun fun to your St. Patrick’s Day festivities. If participants are lucky, they’ll build the perfect trap and catch a Linky Leprechaun! This event is open to girls in gr. 3.

  1. A Third-Grade LEGOpalooza!

Join a Master LEGO builder, Tyler Olmstead, for a LEGO extravaganza with LEGO-themed activities, food, and party favors.  Participants will take a small LEGO kit home to continue the party later.  This event is open to students in gr. 3.

Meet JP teacher and avid reader, Alison Lepard, at Corner Bakery (MarketFair Mall) for brunch and to talk about great children’s books. Following lunch, walk to Barnes & Noble for a read-aloud story and a chance to go shopping for a book of your own! The afternoon is topped off with a sweet treat.

  1. Boys and Girls Get Sporty with the Singers (3rd)

You can count on playing indoor dodgeball, soccer, football, and other run-around actviities. Pizza and drinks will be served. This event is open to students in grs. 3 and 5.

  1. Third-Grade Minecraft Party

Join Jason for a third-grade Minecraft party. Bring your Minecraft log-in and use the provided computers to battle Creepers, Zombies, Krakens, and Mobzilla along with your third-grade friends. Then, restore your health points by enjoying creeper cake and pizza. This event is open to pupils in gr. 3.

It’s a Friday-night feature! Come back to school for dinner and a movie with Alison Lepard! Ms. Lepard will provide pizza and salad dinner followed by a special viewing of Kate DiCamillo’s award-winning book, “Because of WinnDixie.” Ms. Lepard will also provide dessert, popcorn, and drinks. This event is open to pupils in Ms. Lepard’s current class.

Join Adrian and his parents in their kitchen on a winter afternoon. Enjoy preparing tasty treats while performing safe experiments using everyday ingredients. Learn how to make pasta from scratch and taste the results. They will also make a delicious tart using fresh, and whever possible, local ingredients. This event is open to pupils in grs. 3-5.

  1. Miniature Golf with Ms. Heller & Ms. DeLoca (3rd – 5th)

Aim for a hole-in-one while spending a Saturday afternoon playing miniature golf with Ms. Heller. Experience Pennington Golf Center’s brand-new miniature golf course. It will be a “hole lot of fun.” This event is open to pupils in grs. 3-5.

  1. Fourth and Fifth Graders Learn Archery

Boys and Girls, are you an Elf, Avenger, or Hunger Gamer at heart? Come follow in the footsteps of some of your cinematic heros/heroines! Join Sofia, Simon, and Adrian as they host an archery lesson for beginners at the Wa-Xo-Be Archery Club in South Brunswick. The children receive safety training and hands-on coaching from WXB Instructors while shooting using club equipment. Transportation from JP to Archery Club and then back home will be provided. This event is open to girls and boys in grs. 4 and 5.

  1. Fourth and Fifth Grade Book-and-Breakfast Club

Join Ms. Heller, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Vunk, and Ms. Worden for a special morning book club. Members wil decide on a book, read the book, and then meet one morning before school to discuss and enjoy juice, bagels, and muffins. Pupils will have a few weeks to read their book. During this time, the hosts will send home follow-up activities. Kids will engage in an adventuresome book while spending valuable time with JP’s amazing teachers. This event is open to girls and boys in grs. 4 and 5.

  1. Future Fantasy Football (4th)

Be part of the action next fall as fifth-grade teacher Dan Van Hise and instructional assistant Rick Kelly create a fantasy football league on ESPN.com. Children will learn about football draft, picking a team and keeping points for their players. The kids know how much Mr. VH and Mr. K. love sports – especially pro football. Now, ten lucky kids can put their knowledge to the test to see if they can beat “Dan the Man” and “Special K!”   NOTE: There will be no cash prizes or trophies in this league. Kids will be playing strictly for fun and bragging rights. This event is open to pupils currently in grs.4 &5.

  1. Fifth Grade End-of-Year Pool Party

Summer is he-e-e-ere! Celebrate the end of the school year with a pool party! Swim and dive with your classmates. Admission, pizza, snacks, and drinks are included. Lifeguards are provided. Non-swimmers are welcome; however, their parent must accompany them as well. This event is open to all students in gr. 5.

Will you be the first one to get a strike or win at laser tag? Join Sofia, Sarah, Matthew, Jordyn, and Sarah for an afternoon of exitement at Colonial Lanes. After a round of bowling, a fast-paced game of laser tag will bring the fun to the next level. This event is open to pupils in gr. 5.

  1. Viva! It’s Piñata Time

Come for a fiesta with Ben, Sofia and Rodrigo and learn how to design, build, and decorate a piñata using authentic and modern techniques. Amigos will also enjoy tasty treats, play ‘Loteria’ (Mexican Bingo), and, at the end of the Fiesta, take home their piñata filled with candy and party favors. This event is open to pupils in gr. 5.

  1. Adult “Spring Break” and Beer Pong Party

Leave the kids at home, put on your college gear, and pretend you are 20-something . . . if only for the night! Join Karolin and Rene for a casual Beer Pong/Beirut Tournament while you party to your favorite college hits (R.E.M, Dave Matthews, Smashing Pumpkins . . . ) and college munchies (wings, pizza, hoagies . . . ). The Beer Pong/Beirut Tournament is bracket style with only three levels (because we are not really 20!). Prizes will be awarded to the winner and to the person with the most school spirit. This event is open to adults only.

  1. Finding Your Roots

Join Heather on a journey of how you became you! Discover your family history and start your family tree. Bring what you know and leave with so much more. During this working lunch, including homemade soup you will get hands-on time to document what you already know and start the research to learn more.  Learn more about the various DNA kits that can help expand your research to find your roots! There will be some pre-work but you are guaranteed to leave inspired with new information to share this Thanksgiving! This event is open to adults only.

  1. Drink Wine While Making a Valentine

Surprise your Valentine with a hand-made card or create one for your kids. Join Milena and Shazia for a ladies’ night with a little wine, a few munchies, and a whole lot of glitter. Participants will spend the time cutting, pasting, stamping, and just being creative. Your hostesses will supply their favorite wines and Paper Source will help make sure we have fun. Everyone will love the cards you create! This event is open to adult women.

  1. Kick Start the Holidays with Workout Wednesdays

Tell those extra pounds who is boss! Work it off! Join Liz Kaman for the first three Wednesdays in December at her favorite workout spots.   On Dec. 3rd, Liz will introduce you to personal trainer Anthony Carter (who will kick start your metabolism!); on Dec. 10th, Liz will take you to YogaStream where you will learn the zen of yoga (this may be held at 1:30); and, on Dec. 17th, Liz take you to Bar Method where you will be shown the art of firming and sculpting your body. After that, it will be up to you to choose what you do next! Your body will thank you! This event is open to adult women.

  1. Washington, Walking, and Wine

Join The Momos and the Serieyssols on a spring day to tour Rockingham House with “General George Washington,” then stroll to Eno Terra for wine tasting and light fare. Learn from the General about his life and stay at Rockingham from August to November 1783. At Eno Terra enjoy light fare of salumi, local artisan cheeses, and breads from Terra Momo Bakery to accompany wines of the Old and New Worlds (even the General will be impressed!).  (If your schedule is tight please feel free to join this event at Eno Terra at 1:00 p.m. for the wine-tasting.) This event is open to adults only.

Place                                     PURE on Rte. 1

Join Audrey for an evening of drinks and painting at PURE.  While sipping vino and enjoying hors d’oeuvres, participants can mingle and paint with step-by-step instructions.  Canvas, paints, and brushes will be supplied.  Each person will leave with his or her own works of art!   This event is open to adults only.
